What Does Remote & Keypad Repair Cover?
This service handles everything used to command your garage door from outside the opener itself: handheld remotes, wall-mounted push buttons, wireless outdoor keypads, and the programming that ties each one back to your opener's receiver. These issues are distinct from motor or drive problems, even though they can feel the same when the door simply won't move.
Around Barnesville, MD, the most common calls we get are a remote that suddenly stopped working with no warning, a keypad whose buttons no longer register presses, or new homeowners wanting extra remotes programmed or old ones cleared out.
Why It Pays to Fix Control Problems Quickly
Beyond the everyday hassle, there's a real security angle here. Codes left active from a previous owner, a misplaced remote nobody ever deprogrammed, or a keypad code that's easy to guess all leave a way into your garage that's better closed sooner than later.
Mashing the button on a remote that barely works can also hide a bigger issue, like a failing receiver or a shifted antenna inside the opener, rather than something a fresh battery alone will fix.
Our Process
Test Signal Strength and Range
We check how remotes and keypads communicate with the opener to isolate whether the fault lies in the device or the receiver.
Inspect Batteries and Internal Contacts
Worn contacts and weak batteries are ruled out first, since they're often mistaken for a more serious failure.
Wipe Outdated Codes
Unrecognized or leftover codes are cleared from the opener's memory, an especially smart move for a recently purchased home.
Reprogram or Swap in New Hardware
Still-functional units get reprogrammed to your opener, while anything beyond repair is replaced with a compatible remote or keypad.
Confirm Every Control Works
Before we leave, each remote, keypad, and wall switch is tested to make sure it reliably operates the door.
What You Can Expect
Most remote and keypad visits move quickly, often wrapping up in under thirty minutes when reprogramming solves the issue rather than a full swap. While we're there, we're also happy to program extra remotes for family members or wipe old codes if you've recently bought the home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we'd recommend it. Remotes and keypad codes from the previous owner could still be active, and wiping and reprogramming them is a quick but important security step.
That's usually worn-out buttons failing to register a press, a weak battery, or a code that's been changed or erased somehow. We'll test the unit and reprogram it if needed.
